We can’t predict the Budget
Between now and 28 October you will read a hundred predictions about the Budget. You need none of them to make a good decision.
That is the premise of this 40-minute webinar, and it is deliberately not a forecast. We don’t know what’s in the Budget. Neither does anyone quoting you a percentage.
What we’ll cover instead…
What is already law, and already costing you money every April. Four changes are certain, dated and largely unactioned. Thresholds frozen to 2031. A capital gains exemption cut 76% in three years. Most unused pension funds entering the taxable estate from April 2027. Savings and property income tax rising two percentage points. None of it requires a Budget, and none of it is in the newspapers, because certainty isn’t news.
What panic costs, in pounds. Four decisions we see made on rumour… a rushed annuity, a lump sum taken “just in case”, a gain crystallised early, a gift made in haste – and precisely what each one takes away permanently.
The levers you control. Wrapper, whose name it sits in, the order you fill the family balance sheet. All still available on 29 October, whatever is announced.
If you take one lesson away, it will be this: every financial decision is either a one-way door or a dial. You may turn a dial on a rumour. You must never walk through a door on one.
